Data collected

Each time our website is accessed, our system automatically records data and information from the accessing device. The data collected includes:

  • information about the browser type and version used;
  • the operating system of the accessing device;
  • the host name of the accessing computer;
  • the IP address of the accessing device;
  • the date and time of access;
  • the websites and resources (images, files, other page content) accessed on our website;
  • the websites from which the user's system reached our website (referrer tracking);
  • whether the request was successful;
  • the amount of data transferred.

This data is stored in the log files of our system.

Legal basis

The legal basis for this data collection and processing is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

Purpose of the data processing

Evaluating the log data is necessary to ensure smooth operation and thus the secure availability of our information. The purpose of the data processing is therefore:

  • ensuring the proper operation of the website
  • identifying errors
  • identifying potential attack attempts

Storage period

The data is routinely deleted after 3 months. An exception applies only where the data evaluation revealed an error, so that the data is still needed to fix the error or to report it to the authorities. In that case the deletion period depends on the circumstances of the procedure.

Objection and deletion

You may object to the processing at any time under Art. 21 GDPR and request the deletion of data under Art. 17 GDPR. Which rights you have and how to exercise them is described in the lower part of this privacy policy.

Use of external web services, processing of data outside the EU

We use services of external providers on our website, in particular for analytics and marketing purposes. These services are only loaded after you have given your consent via our cookie banner (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, Section 25 (1) of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act (TDDDG)). By loading them, the providers may receive personal data – in particular your IP address as well as device and usage data – and processing may take place outside the EU (in particular in the USA). Transfers to the USA are based on the adequacy decision of the EU Commission (EU-US Data Privacy Framework) where the respective provider is certified, and otherwise on EU standard contractual clauses. You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future via the cookie settings.

  • lidc – controls data centre selection (routing). Storage period: 1 day.
  • li_sugr – browser identifier for matching users. Storage period: 3 months.
  • UserMatchHistory – synchronisation of advertising identifiers. Storage period: 30 days.
  • AnalyticsSyncHistory – time of the last synchronisation. Storage period: 30 days.
  • ln_or – measures the effectiveness of advertising. Storage period: 1 day.

Amazon Ads (only with consent)

  • ad-id – advertising identifier for Amazon Ads. Storage period: approx. 8 months.
  • ad-privacy – stores privacy/opt-out preferences. Storage period: 5 years.

Your rights

Right of access

Under Article 15 (1) GDPR you have the right to request information about which personal data we process about you. A restriction applies only to data whose disclosure would violate the personal rights of third parties. In that case we reserve the right to redact such data before disclosing it to you. We are also happy to provide you with a copy of the data in accordance with Art. 20 GDPR.

Right to rectification

Under Art. 16 GDPR you have the right to have any personal data we hold that is incorrect (such as address, name, etc.) corrected at any time. You may also request at any time that the data we hold be completed.

Right to erasure

Art. 17 (1) GDPR grants you the right to request that we delete personal data if

  • the data is no longer needed (in this case deletion takes place automatically, even without your request),
  • the legal basis has ceased to apply, for example because you withdrew your consent,
  • you have objected to the processing and there are no legitimate grounds for the processing.

However, data is not deleted (Art. 17 (3) GDPR) if

  • the processing is necessary to exercise the right to freedom of expression and information,
  • your data was collected on the basis of a legal obligation,
  • the processing is necessary for reasons of public interest, or
  • the data is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.

Right to restriction

Under Art. 18 (1) GDPR you have the right, in certain cases, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data.

This is always the case if

  • the accuracy of the personal data is in question or contested,
  • the data is no longer needed for the purpose of processing, but the collected data serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims, or
  • an objection to the processing under Art. 21 (1) GDPR has been lodged and it is not yet clear which interests prevail.

Right of withdrawal

If you have given us explicit consent to the processing of your personal data (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR or Art. 9 (2) (a) GDPR), you may withdraw it at any time. Please note that this does not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent before its withdrawal.

Right to object

Under Art. 21 GDPR you have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you that was collected on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (in the context of a legitimate interest).
